I have been a crazy Garance Doré fan for as long as I can remember. She is one of few bloggers whose soul and purpose comes through in every single photo she takes, every illustration she draws, every interview she gives. She makes no effort to appear perfect, orderly, infallible. I love that she embraces silliness, creativity, and exploration, and that she doesn't ever seem to let her fashion world celebrity status change that. It's like she's a perfect blend of what's wonderful about New York (expressive, funny, real, strong) and what I imagine is wonderful about Paris (chic, classic, witty, wise).
Basically, I love her madly and want us to fall in love and run away together. Siiiiigh!

Her book is finally out and I can't get enough. She shares so many stories, from who her earliest fashion influences were (read: people she loved), to an amazing anecdote about falling on her face while trying defiantly to walk in ice/snow in high heels. You hear about her struggles to find out what she wanted from life, and get some of the best find-yourself advice ever on page 89 (I won't spoil it for you).
She's impressive, real, impossibly stylish, present, hilarious, and never afraid of imperfection.
All the things I hope to be when I grow up!
You could buy it on Amazon, but don't. Go to a local bookstore and buy it there - - indiebound.org has a great store finder that will help you out.
