Scenes from a Sunday night: dungeness crab boil

Tea towel: old Anthropologie

On Sunday night this week my boyfriend and I made crab for dinner. I documented the whole thing because it seemed like one of our wackier dinner ideas and it turns out, IT WAS. The whole night also seemed to follow my favorite color palette (oranges, pinks, blues, and blacks) so I couldn't help myself with the camera.

See that white plastic bag on the front of the shopping cart? There is a live dungeness crab in there. It kept moving around and at one point it managed to push out of all the paper it was in that had been stapled shut! AHH.

Early prep work.

The man himself.

We used Emeril Lagasse's garlic and chile roasted dungeness crab recipe and it was delicious.

More prep work!

After boiling the crab we submerged it in ice water to stop it from overcooking before roasting it.

Never have I ever found a more perfect use for these beloved old Anthro plates.

That 70s show

Sunday, August 23, 2015

Dress: thrifted, originally H&M | Hat: Forever21 | Socks: Anthropologie
Boots: Target | Tote: Banana Republic

Everyone's been musing on the 70s comeback of 2015 (NYTRefinery29PopsugarMan Repeller...), but I'll be honest - the 70s have always inspired me. I may not own any bell-bottoms (yet) and suede may give me the shivers, but the glamorous, dreamy, devil-may-care vibe of a deep V wrap dress or a pair of huge round sunglasses never gets old.

Skirt, sunglasses: Forever 21 | Shoes: Candela | Tshirt: Banana Republic | Headscarf: thrifted

I've been feeling retro this week - more in vibe than particular pieces.

#Officestyle continues

A few snaps of what I've been wearing to the office lately.

Dress: Yoana Baraschi, bought at Anthropologie | Jacket: Urban Outfitters | Headwrap: Yestadt Millinery
Shoes: Jessica Simpson | Tote: Banana Republic

Honestly, I'm always looking for excuses to wear this honeycomb dress.
I've had it for years but it never loses its luster.

Pants: J Brand | Shoes, sweater, blouse, tote: Banana Republic
Scarf: Nastygal | Necklace: Julie Nolan Jewelry

It's amazing what a new, suede red heel can do to inject new life into old standbys. Even more amazing when said heel is on sale. (Trust me, they're gorgeous.)

Shirt, tote, necklace: Banana Republic | Dress: H&M | Shoes: DSW

I bought these heels for my bridesmaid outfit at my sister's wedding, and was sure I'd never wear them again - ah, the curse of the bridesmaid wardrobe. It seemed such a waste to have them laying around, never getting any use, so I tried to make them work in my daily life. They're delicate and sparkly, so I paired them with old and somewhat rustic standards - a faded military-style button down, no makeup, and a ginormous blouse-y dress I bought 9 years ago.
