Even when my life is chaotic, I am so lucky. This year's list is long and varied. I am thankful for California and its mind altering good weather, I am thankful for Chicago, I am thankful for the internet,  I am thankful for good hearts, I am thankful for every person who has ever told me that taking risks is not the same as making mistakes.

Most of all this year, I am thankful for all of the extraordinary women around me. My sisters, my mother, my friends. They are made of colors and joi de vivre and wisdom and nuance and beauty and love, and I'm the luckiest.

Here's a few portraits I've taken of these ladies over the past 5 years.

there's no denying the wild horse in us."

Happy Thanksgiving, to you and yours.

Taking photos without my tripod or auto shutter release is hard! Back to the old format of taking photos in the mirror, and weirdly enough, I actually missed it! I wore this to work yesterday. Actually, I wore the outfit minus the headband to work, and bought and added the headband. Haha.

Two months in San Francisco!

Not feeling any less amazed, terrified, enthralled. Living out of a suitcase for the past couple of months has made me think ad nauseam about what I've still got; what travels with me even when I travel alone. I've never enjoyed looking inward, despite what this blog may lead you to believe. Being so off-balance in California has forced me into it. The process is long, but I'm learning to not be hard on myself. Music has always been my religion, and sometimes the right mixtape helps me let go.

That being said, here it is!

Blurry Eyes, SF.

This weekend was our Friendsgiving in Dolores Park, and though I missed the great bulk of the celebrations, it was still so wonderful to be cramped with some of my favorite women into a tiny apartment, eating more leftovers and drinking more cocktails than anyone should.

Blasting this playlist in my headphones and going out to explore today.
Happy Tuesday, world!

Jacket: Urban Outfitters
Shirt: Free People
Short necklace: Forever 21
Zodiac Necklace: Julie Nolan Jewelry

I can't get enough of this necklace pairing. I don't think I own two more opposite pieces. And now of course, I'm obsessively clicking through everything else on Julie Nolan Jewelry . . .

Michelle is coming to town from LA this weekend,
so 3 of my 4 sisters will all be in SF!
Looking forward to a little family time.

Vienna Waits for You

Friday, November 08, 2013

I've never been a huge Billy Joel fan, but this one hits the nail on the head.
Thank you to Danielle, who suggested I give this song a spin.
In all the craziness this song makes me feel a little calmer.

Happy Friday!

Big Sweater / Big Dress / Big Dreams

Monday, November 04, 2013

Dress: H&M
Tights: Anthropologie
Booties: Target
Sweater: Forever 21
Necklace: Forever 21
Purse: Phillip Lim for Target

On repeat over the past few weeks.

I've spent the last few months getting rid of almost all of my stuff in preparation for my move to California, and this dress survived the reckoning. I bought it for graduation a zillion years ago, and though it's three sizes too big, it's one of those pieces that I feel completely myself in.

TWINNING WITH STRANGERS!

Danielle and I spent almost the whole weekend buried in Alias, projects, and piles of home cooked deliciousness, but we did get in a quick walk around the Mission.

This is a wise man we met along the way, I am working on taking his advice.

This photo could lead you to believe that I went to BiRite for flowers, but let's be real. I bought my fourth bag of cookies (apricot & brown butter). The flowers just look nicer than the cookies on camera.
