California, here I come!

I have absolutely ridiculous, exciting, panic-inducing news:

I am moving to San Francisco!

I have been offered an awesome new position with my company and I will be taking off from O'Hare in seven days. One way ticket, west coast bound. It's all still sinking in, and I am so incredibly excited.

I first laid eyes on the Bay when I was 19, sometime in July, around 3 AM. I was in the backseat of a car on the verge of breakdown, wearing pajamas, laugh crying, and absolutely starving. My sister, her roommate and I had been driving for at least 30 hours, and had no maps, no smartphones, no food, no plans, no money, and no idea where we were going. It had been a road trip messy enough for the ages. Finally seeing the city sparkling across the water was such an invigorating, calm moment. Of course, after that moment we got horribly lost and chaos set in again, but I never forgot that minute of joy.

Now, a lot of years and several less manic visits later, I am fully obsessed with San Francisco and cannot believe how lucky I am to get to move out there.

On the other hand, I am broken hearted about leaving Chicago. But that post will come later.

Right now I feel every emotion on earth, but the one that comes through loudest is excitement!

Here comes the countdown....
Happy Wednesday, everybody!

Keeping It Simple:
Gin, mint, homemade lavender simple syrup, mint leaves to garnish!

(To make the lavender simple syrup: pour 2 cups of sugar and 1 cup of water into a pot, melt sugar while constantly stirring. As the sugar dissolves add 3 tablespoons of dried lavender. Continue stirring 4-5 minutes on low heat, let sit for 10 minutes.)

Shirt: Free People
Jacket: Pilcro "Avie", Anthropologie
Sweater: Anthropologie
Pants: AG Stevie Ankle, Anthropologie
Necklace: Banana Republic
Shoes: DSW
Nailpolish: Everybody Loves Redmond, Wet n Wild
Purse: Target

I couldn't go out without both a sweater and a jacket . . . it must be fall.
Wore this to The Revel Room / Emporium last weekend.

This jacket. So obsessed.

Since I was a kid I have always preferred clothes that feel like blankets.

Standing at a crossroads, guys! Will keep you posted.
Happy Wednesday!

Jacket: Anthropologie "Avie"
Shirt: Old Navy
Skirt: Forever 21
Sunglasses: Anthropologie
Shoes: MIA "Abie"
Nailpolish: Wet N Wild "Everybody Loves Redmond" - still my fave!

Wore this today while strolling around Edgewater (with the customary stop at Metropolis, of course.)

I mentioned my lifelong search for a perfect denim jacket way back here, and now, nearly a year later, I've found it. It's a little cropped and the sleeves are slim and the tiny brown leather tab on the bottom might be my favorite part.

I wish I'd bought this skirt in a zillion colors.

LAST SEEN:
Skirt: here, here

I'm sad to see summer go, but so ready for autumn dressing. At a certain point I get tired of the "what's the least amount of clothing I can get away with in this heat" game.

Bring on the pumpkins, changing leaves, and layers!

Top: Urban Outfitters
Skirt: Urban Outfitters
Boots: Clark's
Lipstick: ColorLab "Rogue Wave"

I wore this out several weeks ago but just had a chance to shoot photos! Trevor took these for me while we were in Ann Arbor for the weekend.

A few more things that I would never have worn a year ago.

I think the hi-lo skirt can easily be a mess, but for some reason I liked this one. The black/tan pattern kept it grounded, the material was light enough that it had some real drape.

Favorite. Boots. Ever.

I think this is a perfect seasonally transitional outfit and I can't wait to wear it with this crazy Michael Jackson Disco Ball Jacket as soon as it's chilly...
