Cardigan: Forever 21
Shirt: J Crew
Tie: Topshop (men's)
Pants: J Brand
Shoes: Seychelles

A pairing of the most skin-tight pants and the chunkiest sweater.

I actually reached for these pants on a morning I was late, assuming they were my black go-to's (these Banana Republic skinnies) - I was horrified to discover about a half hour later that they were in fact, my rarely worn SUPER RESTRICTIVE J Brand skinnies.

I spent the entire day not sitting down, not bending over, and not walking very quickly.
Still, at least they look good.

I bought this tie for myself on my birthday last year. Hard to believe it hasn't been on the blog yet.

This outfit felt like coming off of a round of 18 holes and walking into the clubhouse for a scotch.

SIDENOTE: I spent all day yesterday shooting photos all over Chicago with my incredibly talented (unfairly handsome) friend Allen and I can't wait to have the photos posted on here.

Imagine the photos I take, but 200% better, and in actual daylight.

Stay tuned!

My third Bloggiversary was last week...so hard to believe.
I'll be doing a year three retrospective soon.

Sweater: J Crew
Vest: Anthropologie
Necklace: Forever 21
Belt: thrifted
Skirt: Anthropologie
Boots: Anthropologie
Lipstick: Nars "Heat Wave"

I wore this to work yesterday, in a desperate attempt to fight the February blues. Hot pink maxi season may be a long way off, but at this point if I don't wear something other than black skinny pants and black tights I'm going to lose it.

I wore two pairs of tights and an enormous pair of CVS heat socks underneath this skirt. #fashion

This vest and necklace are probably the two things I've worn most consistently this winter. The necklace is on sale at Forever 21 now, which means it's almost free and trust me, if you buy it you'll wear it 100x more often than you'd have expected. It's sold out online but here is it's closest cousin.

I am going to see one of my style icons, SOLANGE, this weekend.
Tell me friends,
WHAT DOES ONE WEAR TO MEET THE QUEEN??

My roommates and I are in the process of giving our apartment a facelift!
(My living room was always pretty cute, but you can see a couple "before" photos of this room in these two posts from 2011: Summer Silk and A Headband I Can Actually Wear)

Behold, what a coat of grey paint can do.
We found that vintage wagon wheel from the 1920s in Grand Haven Michigan.

A few thrift gems plus one from good ol Anthro.

Working on new curtains, using a sheet as a tablecloth, bought some fun placemats.

The CROWN JEWEL, in my opinion: a vintage army medical supply suitcase from the 1950s, found antiquing in Michigan, filled with blankets, pillows, my cat's toys, and all my records.

This color is exactly the same as the color of my Dad's old cello case. Perhaps that explains my obsession.

Happy Valentine's Day.
