Shirt: Madewell, available here
Necklace: Anthropologie, available here
Shorts: Urban Outfitters
Shoes: Sam & Libby, DSW
Earrings: vintage, gift (thanks Emma)
Sunglasses: thrifted
Nailpolish: "Everybody Loves Redmond", Wet n Wild

Wore this drinking on a rooftop downtown last week.
(Not telling you which one, lest it become suddenly popular, and I'd no longer be able to waltz right in and plop down at my favorite corner four top.)

This one follows my no-fail outfit formula:
something classic + something sassy,

Chambray (classic) + huge bib necklace (sassy)
Baby pink pumps (classic) + super short shorts (sassy)
Ladylike pink clip ons (classic) + giant square glasses (sassy)

I spent so much of my childhood fighting wearing collared, buttoned, high-necked shirts, and now they're all I want to wear. Hm.

What's up this weekend, Chicago?

Sunglasses: thrifted
Blouse: Anthropologie, available here
Belt: thrifted
Shorts: Anthropologie
Bracelet: Anthropologie
Earrings: thrifted, Seek
Nailpolish: Wet n Wild "Everybody Loves Redmond"

Wore this around on a very, very lucky Friday afternoon.

I firmly believe that this outfit brought me a solid dose of good luck on Friday. I had perfect CTA timing, got a free bag of chocolates from my favorite candy's the little things. (And sometimes it's the big things too, more on that sweet development later.)

Grandma shorts. I wish I knew how to quit you.

Half the fun of great fake tattoos is showing them off under your ladylike clothes.

Top: Banana Republic
Necklace: Forever 21
Belt: thrifted
Skirt: Forever 21
Shoes: Sears
Nailpolish: Wet n Wild "Everybody Loves Redmond"

I wore this to work on the first under 85 degree day of this week.

Mustard might be more of a fall shade but I think it can be just as good in the summer. As long as it's crisp - hence the white lace.

This necklace reminds me of a teeny birdcage.

And because it'd be a bummer to post a playlist that wasn't 1000% perfect, my summer playlist is still in the works. I promise it's coming. It'll probably be extremely space-y or extremely retro, and either way it'll be perfect for laying in the park watching lightning bugs.

Grandma Shorts + Paisley

Blouse: J Crew
Necklace: Banana Republic
Belt: gift, Ann Taylor (thanks Mom)
Shorts: Anthropologie
Shoes: Tahari, via DSW
Sunglasses: Anthropologie
Lipstick; colorlabd, "Rogue Wave" (thanks Marie)
Nailpolish/toe nailpolish: Wet n Wild "Everybody Loves Redmond"

I believe I wore this to dinner and drinks at Salpicon a few weeks ago...but it was so long ago that the memories are a blur. Oh well.

It looks like olive and gold is my official favorite clothing color combo. The evidence is all over:
and most recently, Opposites Attract.

This necklace is a definite contender for my next round of MVPs. Sometimes a little too much is just enough.

Good lord I look like a ghost in these photos. Maybe this was longer ago than I thought...

Glasses: fake, bought on the street in New York a few years ago
Cardigan: Ann Taylor circa the late 90s, gift (thanks Mom)
Button down: Anthropologie
Belt: ???
Jeans: AG Denim Legging, via Anthropologie
Shoes: Chuck Taylors, of course
Ring: thrifted, with lovely Laura of BlorangeDice, at Kokorokoko

Confession: I have 20/20 vision.
What am I doing wearing glasses?
I just think they're cool!

I wore this a couple of weeks ago (anyone living in Chicago would guess that - it's been blistering hot lately). I've been such a busy bee over the past couple of weeks that I've had no time to take outfit photos, but expect a return to form soon. The chucks/glasses combo took me thrifting to find some new records to put on my walls.

Summer is starting and I'm READY!
The next post will include this years Summer Playlist.
It'll be a little retro, a little funky, and a lot of fun.

Sunday Snippets 4 - A Little History

Sunday, June 03, 2012

My oldest sister used to make our family these amazing mixtapes she called Happy Car Music for our many cross-country drives. "I'll Be There" by the Jackson 5 was on Happy Car Music VI and I honestly don't know if I've ever loved a song more. I distinctly remember begging my Mom to rewind the tape over and over and over so I could keep hearing it, to the point where she had to put her foot down one day and hid the cassette from me.

This song has become the standard to which I hold all love in my life.

Here are the boys, performing my jam on Diana! in 1971. (PS How perfect does Diana Ross look.)

Happy Sunday kiddos.
